Mindful Minute: Inner Life by Parker Palmer

“The inner life of any great thing will be incomprehensible to me until I develop and deepen an inner life of my own.” —Parker Palmer

This quote moves me deeply as I am learning how to truly know something or someone. If I am not in touch with my own inner life and if I have not cultivated a deep self-understanding then I am at the mercy of my limited perceptions and self-made judgments. I long for, rather, a life of patience, compassion and connection with both others and myself.

What about you? Have you noticed how easy it is to “see” something without really knowing it? Or to see someone through our own limited vision rather than through a more spacious lens? I welcome your thoughts and comments.
