A Surprising Perspective

As a nurse, yoga teacher, meditation and stress reduction educator and health consultant, I have long believed the keys to a healthy life were found in wise nourishment, regular exercise and strength training, and getting plenty of sleep each night. I still believe these elements are very important to a healthy life. Yet, what if true health and vitality depended on something more foundational than personal health habits and more ancient than modern medicine? What if these components play a part in health but are trumped by something much more important?

Lissa Rankin, M.D., believes healing the mind and being healthy in all aspects of life are essential to true wellness. In her work with patients, she encourages health and authenticity in relationships, work, creative expression, spirituality, sexuality, finances and living environments. She invites her patients to tap into the power of the mind to heal the body and not to settle for merely “well”, but to strive for living a vital, joyful and authentic life – full of happiness, connection and exuberance.
