Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Corporate Program

 

 

Our Mindfulness in the Workplace courses and workshops are designed for corporations and other professional organizations. These programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of the organization, and can be easily presented in a variety of locations and room sizes. We offer both an 8-Week Course, an Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop and an off-site Weekend Retreat for Executives.

 

Eight Week Course

 

The corporate Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program is typically taught on-site and consists of eight weekly two hour sessions that include stress reduction skills, periods of guided instruction in a variety of meditation practices, periods of silent exploration, and opportunities for group dialogue that build personal awareness and creativity. We fit these sessions into a time frame most convenient for the majority of corporate participants.

 

In addition, the class time may be reduced without compromising program effectiveness. Also, the 8 week course may be modified in length to meet corporate needs.  

  • This course is highly interactive and assists participants to learn how to:

  • Cultivate awareness and focus

  • Reduce stress

  • Increase stability in the midst of highly charged situations

  • Improve communication skills

  • Enhance clarity and creative thinking

  • Cultivate leadership

  • Improve on-the-job effectiveness

  • Move from a sense of urgency to a more peaceful state

The first four weeks are focused on each participant’s physical and psychological development of calmness and stability as a foundation of responsiveness for everyday challenges. The course content and homework is aimed at cultivating an awareness of the here and now.

 

During these first sessions, we will focus on:

  • Dwelling in stillness, silence and deep relaxation

  • Experiencing non-judgmental awareness

  • Practicing mindfulness techniques

  • Recognizing stressful feelings

  • Recovering more rapidly from stressful events

Building on the first four weeks of training, the sessions of the second four weeks further develop skills while deepening the capacity to apply these skills to daily personal/professional life. For most individuals, as personal understanding increases, wise and appropriate choice increases.

 

We will explore:

  • Developing a deeper empathy for ourselves and for others

  • Developing a deeper connection with ourselves and with others in the workplace

  • Becoming more effective in the workplace by utilizing present moment awareness to alter or change old thinking patterns

  • Improving communication styles to support dialogue and teamwork

  • Refining the ability to remain aware in emotionally charged situations

  • Rediscovering our capacity for vision, leadership and successful co-creation with colleagues

An Introduction to Mindfulness

A One-Day Workshop

 

Rising healthcare costs have made employee well-being a serious bottom-line concern for many companies. Clearly, a work environment that supports and encourages health can no longer be seen as a unique offering that attracts the fitness minded employee. Instead, such an environment has become a wise essential - not only for individual well-being but for the health of the organization as well. Some of the smartest money in business is being spent on programs designed to keep company members working well.

 

Our intention is to bring Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to individuals who have an impact on significant numbers of people. The program is designed to assist individuals to develop and integrate practical, stress reduction skills into their everyday lives. Program participants will experience a range of mindfulness practices assisting them to:

  • Identify and reduce stress

  • Remain centered and focused in challenging situations

  • Embrace productivity and creativity

  • Improve overall effectiveness in the workplace

 

An Introduction to Mindfulness is a full-day workshop providing participants with:

  • Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices

  • Practical methods for integrating awareness into everyday life

  • Gentle stretching and relaxation skills to reduce workday tension

  • Home assignments to compliment in-house learning

  • Guided audio CD’s and written materials

  • An extensive resource guide

  

 

The purpose and focus of this workshop is to introduce participants to the power of mindfulness, which can simply be defined as becoming fully awake and aware in our lives. The orientation of the workshop is experiential and interactive and will be structured in two parts:

  • In order to create a context for learning, we will provide participants with an introduction and discussion of the component parts of the program as well as an overview of relevant statistics and appropriate data

  • Secondly, we will experience a series of formal mindfulness practices including sitting and walking meditation, yoga and body scan. Following each of these exercises, participants will have the opportunity to explore their experience. At the conclusion of the workshop, we will discuss and explore practical ways to utilize and expand mindfulness

An Introduction to Mindfulness is ideally offered as a one-day workshop. However it is possible to create two half-day experiences in order to fit the needs of the organization.

Pre-Program Orientation Meeting:

 

To optimize the success of the program, the instructor meets with participants prior to the beginning of the program. This 2 hour meeting is designed to:

  • Assist us to better understand each participant

  • Explain the program and answer personal questions

  • Provide an initial data gathering process allowing assessment of the effectiveness of the program

Follow-up consultation:

 

Following the conclusion of the program, we will meet with the client to review the effectiveness of the stress reduction program and to discuss any follow up action appropriate.

 

Confidentiality:

 

Simple Serenity maintains client and participant confidentiality during and following completion of the program. Participant anonymity is insured by presenting all assessment information gathered from individuals in a form with no personally identifiable characteristics.
