Mindfulness meditation is an invitation – an opportunity – to cultivate the richness and beauty of your life with full awareness and acceptance. Meditation can be thought of as the art of awakening. Through the mastery of this art, it is possible to learn new ways to develop greater calmness, clarity and insight in facing and embracing all of life’s experiences.

 

Mindfulness is now being recognized as a highly cost effective choice for comprehensive health care as well as a very powerful tool in dealing with stress and chronic pain. Thirty years of published research indicate the majority of people who complete a Stress Reduction Program report:

         

  • Reductions in pain levels and increased skills in coping with long term pain

  • Significant and lasting decrease in physical symptoms and psychological symptoms

  • Greater vitality and joy for living

  • A more relaxed state

  • An ability to cope effectively with stress

 

Simple Serenity Stress Reduction Program is an 8-week course taken in addition to any medical treatment being received. It is designed to complement any challenging life situation from everyday stress to serious medical diagnoses. While most 8-week courses are taught in a hospital setting, this offering is for individuals or small groups who prefer a more private setting. In this program, there is time for individual concerns and an opportunity to design a personalized stress reduction approach to one’s life situation.

 

This eight week, 11 session program is offered four times per year: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Assessment interviews and enrollment begin two months prior to each teaching cycle. This highly participatory, practical course includes:

 

  • Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices

  • Gentle hatha yoga

  • Inquiry exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life

  • Individually tailored instruction

  • Group dialogue

  • Daily home assignments

  • 4 audio CD’s for guidance at home

  • Professional workbook
